Cave City, KY

Arrived here Thursday mid-morning and did some sight seeing before we checked in at the Campground. For a small town there is an abundance of antique shops. Magalines in 'downtown' Cave City is the largest at 10,000 sq.ft. It occupies one city block. Stepping into the store is almost overwhelming, wall to wall and floor to ceiling antiques. We also checked out some of the smaller stores.

Late in the afternoon the skies started turning dark in the west, we decided that we better get to the RV park and get checked in. Made it to the site, electric hooked up and the skies opened up, a brief 10 minute downpour and it was pretty much over.

Mammoth Caves WERE on the schedule for today. Most National Parks are VERY busy during the summer months. Mammoth Caves is no exception. It is recommended by the National Parks to buy tickets online. There are eight different tours available at the caves, from easy to difficult. The only tickets available for Fri/Sat were the difficult ones, crawling along your belly through tight spots. Tours lasting four hours. So, we'll be visiting some of the other caves in the area, Diamond Caverns being one of them. Supposed to be prettier than Mammoth.
