Galveston is a small city of about only 48,000 people. It has had it's share of hurricanes over the years, the last one being Ike in 2008. The deadliest hurricane in U.S. history happened in Galveston in 1900. 6-8,000 people were killed. But Galveston keeps coming back. Galveston is also home to over 60 structures from the 19th century that are on the National Register of Historic Places.
