Myakka River State Park

A beautiful day for a drive, some hiking and biking. This state park has it all. The park has seven miles of paved roads for a leisurely drive or some biking. A concession building houses a small restaurant and gift shop. Bicycle and canoe rentals are available also.
Info stop on an unpaved bike trail

There are about 40 miles of looped hiking trails maintained by the Florida Trail Association. There are six primitive campgrounds as well as two campgrounds for RVs. Electric and water are available at the RV sites and a dump station is located nearby.

There are warning signs through out the park like these:
Probably best to heed these signs.

We spotted this pair of alligators sunning themselves in a small creek along side of one of the bike trails. Notice the baby alligator on the snout of the adult (follow the white arrows).

The Clay Gulley Creek as well as the Myakka River feed into the Upper Myakka Lake.
