A day in Bradenton

We cruised up US 41 to Mixon Fruit Farms www.mixon.com. The Farm has created a 'fruit cocktail' tree. They grafted an orange, grapefruit and lemon onto one trunk. So you can have three fruits off the same tree. Saves space! The 'Orange Blossom Express' tram takes you on a small tour thru part of the groves.

They still grow and ship various citrus fruits from this location. There is a small wildlife refuge that rescues animal, birds and reptiles.

There is a small walk-thru butterfly garden and a Koi fish pond.

We headed over to Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island. Longboat Key was rated by Conde Nast Traveler as a 2010 'Readers Choice Award' for 2nd Best Island. Anna Maria Island has been the backdrop for many Hollywood movies through out the years as well photo shoots.

Lunch was at 'Rotten Ralph's www.rottenralphs.com where they have FREE beer...tomorrow. LOL.
