Dells area State Parks

The Wisconsin Dells area has three State Parks within 20 miles. Devil's Lake State Park, Mirror Lake State Park and Rock Arbor State Park. It was a beautiful day, sunny and 80, so we hit two of the parks.

Mirror Lake State Park has been open since 1966. There are over 2000 acres in the park. Sandstone cliffs 50 feet high and pine and oak woods surround the lake. There is camping, boating, swimming, hiking and biking in the Park.

Off to Devil's Lake State Park which is Wisconsin's largest state park. The Park was founded in 1911. It has hosted a wide range of events and hosted some remarkable people. The Ringling Bros owned a summer home here, Ulysses Grant visited here. There used to be a winery and vineyard on the south shore and elephants bathed in the lake!

The lake itself is 360 acres and is surrounded by 500 foot high quartzite bluffs.
