With no real schedule or route, we left Perry and headed north on Hwy 221. This route to the Georgia border is tree lined with Live Oak and Cypress trees almost similar to driving in northern Minnesota. An occasional beef farm or cornfield can be seen through the openings in the trees. We cut over to I-75 and headed north again.
Getting closer to Atlanta and dreading driving through there mid-day we took a left turn on to I-20 and headed into Alabama. We eventually found a back road and headed north to Gadsden, AL. This is home to Noccalula Falls.
Noccalula Falls, which drops into the Black Creek ravine, is marked with a bronze statue[1] of Cherokee
maiden Noccalula who, according to local legends, plunged to her death
after being ordered by her father to marry a man she didn't love. The
bronze statue of Noccalula was, at the time of its creation, the first
statue of a person jumping off a cliff. This legend is much similar to Princess Winona. The bronze used in the statue was made from pennies collected from local school children in the mid-1960s. (From Wikipedia)
We found a city owned RV park (Good Sam too) to spend the night. A huge car show takes place here this weekend so we have to be out tomorrow.
Next stop. Graceland in Memphis, TN and they have their own RV park!
