Chip-O-Tex Carving Show

This carving show in Harlingen at Casa de Amistad is sponsored by the Chip-O-Tex carving club. The club has over 100 members mostly winter Texans and operates out of Park Place RV Resort in Harlingen. Several of the parks in the Harlingen area that have carvers also display their carvings at the show. Each park's table is judged by the public and a ribbon awarded.

The carvings ranged in size from miniature sewing spools to a full size wooden carousel horse. Cottonwood bark carving is a popular carving medium. Wood spirits and fairy houses are usually carved from this bark.

We have some excellent carvers here at Lakewood. Every year winning blue ribbons with their work.

Everything here is hand carved, horses, cowboys, concrete blocks.

The reins were hand cut from real leather

Deep relief carving, each building is carved through the windows

In the beginners class I won two blues, two seconds and a third for a woodburning.
