The S.S. Winnie has set sail

We left the Twin Cities at 8 AM amongst a sloppy start. 1"-2" of fluffy snow overnight made for a real mess with the motorhome and the HHR. Somebody will be busy cleaning both when we hit Florida. Salt and sand spray all over everything.

Once we left the metro area the roads were in pretty good driving conditions. Northern Iowa has very little snow cover right now. Southern Iowa and northern Missouri had 4-6" of snow overnight. As of 4 AM this morning (Friday) both state D.O.T websites had I35 covered with snow and some ice. By the time we arrived all of the snow and ice had melted and the pavement was wet in some areas.

We set anchor at the Kan-Do Campground in Montgomery City, MO. I70 @ exit 170. This is one of the few campgrounds in this area open all year. About 5 or 6" of slush on the ground. They have some permanents and a few local workers that stay here. Off to Georgia tomorrow.
